Alice Mae Portell of Cadet, Missouri was born on Saturday, March 18, 1939 in Potosi, Missouri a daughter of the late, Nettie Daffney (Boyer) Price-Heifner and Elliott Bernard Price. Alice departed this life on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-three years, three months and twenty-one days.
Alice was united in marriage to Bob Portell on March 5, 1957 in Hillsboro, Missouri.
Alice is survived by her husband, Bob Portell of Cadet, Missouri; two sons, Bobby Portell, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Mineral Point, Missouri, Mark Portell of Cadet, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Lou Coleman and husband, Jim of Old Mines, Missouri, Terry Maxwell and husband, Kenny of Old Mines, Missouri, Barbara Boyer and husband, Danny of Cadet, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Brytney and fiancé Andy, Anthony, Haley, Tiffany and husband David, Jacob and Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Lilly, Josh and Zachary; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Voelker, one son, Michael Portell, one grandson, Steven Hill, one sister, Carol Sue Price, two brothers, John David Price and Benny Monroe Price.
Alice attended the Potosi Southern Baptist. She called upon Jesus as Lord and Savior looking for opportunities to share him with others. She enjoyed photography and taking photos for her photo albums. Alice also enjoyed going to yard sales and making beautiful crafts. She loved her family and the time they spent together. “Don’t be sad for me, I’m going home, where Donna and Michael are. I miss them so. There has never been a day I have not missed them”.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, July 13, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, with Brother John Edwards officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Bobby Portell, Jr., Kyle Portell, Danny Boyer, Chris Boyer, Anthony Portell and Melvin Portell.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
