Richard David Portell of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, July 31, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of fifty-seven years, one month and nine days.
Dave was united in marriage to Marcia Eye on November 25, 1995 at the Potosi Presbyterian Church, Potosi, Missouri.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Portell of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Kathleen English and fiancé, Toby Dunlap of Potosi, Missouri; two sons, Robert Portell and wife, Amy of Jacksonville, Florida, Christopher Portell of Grand Junction, Colorado; father, Harry Portell of Potosi, Missouri; three brothers, Timothy B. Portell and wife, Audri of Potosi, Missouri, Stephen Portell and wife, Debbie of Tehachapi, California, Matt Portell and wife, Susan of Bakersfield, California; two grandchildren, Reighann Fay Politte of Illinois, Evan Portell; four step-grandchildren, Shelby, Elizabeth, Courtney and Allen; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemarie (Renshaw) Portell, one stepdaughter, Angela Jett and one brother, Mark J. Portell.
Dave’s love and compassion for his fellow man continued even after his time on earth when he became and organ and tissue donor, helping others continue their lives.
Dave was a 1973 graduate of Potosi High School where he played football. Dave loved his Lord and Savior and the many gifts of Mother Nature. He enjoyed spending time working outdoors in his yard, his favorite time on the year was autumn. Dave mostly loved traveling with his wife, Marcia all of the United States and spending time with family and his dog “Beau” who was just like one of his children. He enjoyed listening to music and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Dave was very proud of his family, who will all deeply miss him.
A Memorial Visitation was held Friday, September 16, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Memorial Service was held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Brett Randall officiating.
Burial was in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
