Lester Roy “Whitey” Ramsey of Potosi, Missouri was born December 12, 1928, in Omaha, Arkansas, the second son of the late Cordis and Sena (Proctor) Ramsey. Lester departed this life May 24, 2019, having reached the age of 90 Years, 5 Months and 12 Days.
Lester married Doris Appleton and they became the parents of Diana Sue Ramsey Boettcher of Potosi, MO and Kenneth Leon Ramsey of Arnold, MO. After Doris passed away he married Patricia O’Hanlon Hahn and he became stepfather to Beverly Hahn Lynch and husband John of Leavenworth, KS, Tracy Hahn, deceased and wife Joyce Hahn of Troy, MO. He enjoyed his grandchildren and step grandchildren, Kerry (Kristy) Klable, Tim Klable, John P. Lynch, Erin (Ty) Lynch Hayden, Adam Lynch and Meagan Ramsey Givens (Jamie) and great grandchildren, Korey Klable, Carter Klable, James Givens, Harrison Givens, Casper Hayden, Abbagail Hayden, Lexi Hayden, Shelly McMullin, Tammy Bickel and Theresa Graham. Beloved niece, Colleen Solomon (Al) Luntzer. He leaves to mourn, his wife Patricia, brother, Virgil Ramsey, sister, June Roberts, Sister-in-law, Beth O’Hanlon Wolsey and family of Fort Smith, AR, Brothers-in-law, Tom and Jan O’Hanlon and family of Surprise, AZ and John and Renee O’Hanlon and family of Potosi, MO. Preceding him in death was his wife, Doris, brothers, Jessie, Eugene, Richard and sisters Betty Solomon and Clevia Hanners.
Lester worked construction, operating heavy equipment, building many of the interstate highways in the St. Louis area. Lester was a proud member of Local 513 out of St. Louis. He enjoyed owning, riding and showing horses, bird watching and camping. He and wife Pat camped and rode most all the trails in this area. There was always a beautiful garden and flowers as he loved planting and seeing his bountiful harvest. Whitey was an avid pool player and treasured the many friendships developed throughout the community and at Sayers Senior Center. He enjoyed reading and spent many afternoons immersed in novels. He was the type of person who would tackle anything and learn; accomplishing much in his life.
