Homer Rawson, Sr. of Bonne Terre, Missouri was born on Friday, April 10, 1931 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a son of the late, Goldie (Whitter) Rawson and Elmer Rawson. Homer departed this life on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his residence having reached the age of eighty years, five months and two days.
Homer was united in marriage to Eleanor Porter on June 27, 1986.
Homer is survived by wife, Eleanor Rawson of Bonne Terre, Missouri; five sons, Dell Rawson of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Marty Rawson and wife, Sue of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Bryan Rawson and wife, Andria of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Mike Mund of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Greg Mund of Bonne Terre, Missouri; six daughters, Norma Patt and husband, Raymond of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Diane Politte and husband, Randy of Cadet, Missouri, Donna Clifford and husband, Mark of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Jeannie Smith and husband, Rodney of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Jan Sparkman and husband, Carl of Hillsboro, Missouri, Angie McConnell and husband, Ron of Neosho, Missouri; one sister, Connie Wilson and husband, Mike of Park Hills, Missouri; four brothers, Terry Rawson and wife, Mary of Park Hills, Missouri, Robert Rawson and wife, Ann of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Clifford Rawson and wife, Faye of Fremont, Ohio, Sylvester Rawson and wife, Carol of Fremont, Ohio; sister-in-law, Beatrice Rawson of Memphis, Tennessee; twenty-two grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by first wife, Ila Mae Straughan Rawson, two sisters, Bonnie Rawson, Thelma Rawson, three brothers, Kenny Rawson, Edward Rawson and Donald Rawson.
Homer was an avid hunter who loved spending time outdoors. He was known for always picking and joking with others. Homer’s favorite pastime was tinkering with lawn mowers. He also enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family and friends. Homer will be forever remembered for his loving and caring ways.
Memorial Visitation was held Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Randy Murphy officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Bonne Terre, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
