Richard Frederick Wohlschlag, Jr. was a dedicated individual who lived a life full of love, kindness, and care. He was born on June 12, 1944, in Belgrade, Missouri to his parents, Marjorie Jeannette (Eye) Wohlschlag and Richard Frederick Wohlschlag, Sr. Richard departed this life September 14, 2023. Richard's journey was one that touched the lives of many through his various career paths and personal endeavors.
Richard's professional life began with his service in the United States Navy, where he dedicated twenty remarkable years of his life from 1964 to 1984 to the nation he held dear. Deeply committed to his duty, Richard worked in the military intelligence agency, contributing significantly to national security efforts. After his honorable service in the Navy, he went on to apply his talents in other fields.
Richard's career path led him to work for prominent companies such as United Stores of America and Famous Barr. At United Stores of America and Famous Barr, Richard displayed his expertise in the camera department, further influencing those around him with his passion for photography and visual arts. Additionally, he served diligently as part of the Caledonia Schools community.
While Richard excelled professionally, it was his role as a family man that truly defined him. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones—his children Deborah Ann Adkins and her husband Jeffery; grandchildren Nicholas and Heather and great grandchildren. Shawna Willoughby and her husband David; Steven Wohlschlag; Shane Wohlschlag and his wife Rebecca; sister Sharon Lee Hall and her husband David and nieces and nephews; brother Dennis Ray Wohlschlag and his wife Lena, and nieces and nephews.
Beyond immediate family ties, Richard reveled in the joy of knowing he had grandchildren by Shawna and David Willoughby, Stephen Wohlschlag, and Shane Wohlschlag.
Away from work and family commitments, Richard found solace in his hobbies and pastimes. He enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with his family, and friends. These cherished moments served as a reminder of the love that Richard cultivated throughout his vibrant life.
In conclusion, Richard's life was one marked by dedication and love—both in his impactful career roles and within the sanctuary of his family's embrace. Please join us in celebrating his life and holding onto the cherished memories that will forever live within our hearts.
