Norma Jean Richards
Norma Jean Richards of Potosi, Missouri was born on Friday, October 16, 1936 in Palmer, Missouri. She was the daughter of Nellie (Scott) Mallow and the late Henry Lee Mallow. Norma departed this life on Friday, August 4, 2006 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-nine years, nine months and nineteen days.
Norma was united in marriage to Steven J. “Sonny” Richards on February 11, 1955 in Potosi, Missouri and this union was blessed with one son.
Norma is survived by her mother, Nellie (Scott) Mallow of Potosi, Missouri; son, Jerry Richards and wife Carla of Potosi, Missouri; brother, Henry Lee Mallow, Jr. of Herrin, Illinois; and two granddaughters, Mallory Richards of Potosi, Missouri, and Jennifer Richards of Potosi, Missouri. Norma was preceded in death by her father, Henry Lee Mallow and husband, Steven J. “Sonny” Richards.
Norma graduated from Potosi High School in 1953. Norma helped on the family farm by pulling weeds, picking up rocks, hauling hay and checking on cattle and calves by riding her four wheeler around the farm. She enjoyed cooking large menus of food, and having company to enjoy her cooking and hospitality. Norma loved to travel on vacation, especially going to the mountains and to rodeos with Sonny. She loved spending time with her granddaughters, watching them excel in all types of endeavors and going on field trips giving the students home baked cookies and chewing gum. Norma would take care of anyone in need, especially her mother. She also enjoyed watching purple martins and keeping track of when they were migrating. Norma was a very generous and caring person that will be deeply missed by all of the many lives she touched.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 6, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, August 7, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, August 7, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mike Jarvis officiating.
Burial took place in the Palmer Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Crump, Carl “Squire” Essmyer, Larry Nipper, Alan Mercer, Oliver Crocker and Marvin Harvey.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
