Marian “Kitty” Sue Rolens



“Kitty” Rolens of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, October 20, 1937 in Anthonies Mill, Missouri a daughter of the late, Gladys Marie (Kimberlin) Kathcart and Logan Kathcart. “Kitty” departed this life on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy years, five months and nine days.

“Kitty” was united in marriage to Leroy Rolens on April 29, 1955 and this union was blessed with three children.

“Kitty” is survived by her husband, Leroy Rolens of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Marcia Paton and husband, Jonathan of Cuba, Missouri, Madonna Rolens and Mikeal Daniels of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma; four sisters, Phyllis Vance and husband, Carl of St. Charles, Missouri, Sharon Forrester and husband, Wesley of Potosi, Missouri, Glenda Farrow and husband, Perry of Potosi, Missouri, Debbie Belfield of Mineral Point, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Suzanne, Erika and Katie; two great grandchildren, Bailee and Cadynce “Kitty”; five sisters-in-law, Sally Warren and husband, Carl of Branson, Missouri, Mary Benoist and husband, Mike of Park Hills, Missouri, Cathy Hummel and husband, Bob of Hominy, Oklahoma, Georgia Dempsey and husband, Kenneth of Blair, Oklahoma, Laura Leffert and husband, Gary of DeSoto, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Art Rolens and wife, Wilma of Imperial, Missouri; dear and special friends, Connie and Skip Sayers of Potosi, Missouri, David Hochstater of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, “Kitty” was preceded in death by one son, Mark Francis Rolens on February 18, 1959, one brother, Bob Kathcart, and brother-in-law, Floyd Rolens and wife, Janet Rolens.

“Kitty” attended the St. James Catholic Church of Potosi, Missouri. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Kitty” enjoyed traveling, shopping and also enjoyed cooking for all of her family and friends. “Kitty” was employed at the Sayers Bison Ranch where she wore many hats and catered to the many visitors and staff. She was known for her great ability to take care of the fine details and turn an ordinary occasion into a memorable event. Her warm smile and open heart was always there for family and friends. “Kitty” will be very deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich and Father James Finder officiating.

Honoring “Kitty” as Pallbearers were: Nathan Farrow, Scott Forrester, Greg Vance, Danny Rolens, David Widsom and James Rolens. Honorary Pallbearers were: Skip Sayers and David Hochstatter.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
