Ronnie Leroy Skiles, a dedicated individual who spent his life serving and protecting others, passed on March 3, 2024. Ronnie, known for his commitment to law enforcement and his service in the United States Army, leaves behind a legacy of hard work, and love for his family.
Born on October 15, 1942, in Cadet, Missouri, and son to the late Julia (Vance) Skiles and Sterling Skiles, Sr., Ronnie led a fulfilling life filled with various accomplishments. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1985 and later worked for the Department of Corrections and as a Washington County Sheriff Deputy. Ronnie's contributions to law enforcement extended further as he served as the Sheriff of Washington County from 1989 to 1992 and again from 1997 to 2000. Additionally, he actively recruited soldiers for the United States Army.
Aside from his professional endeavors, Ronnie enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, fishing, hunting, farming, traveling, storytelling, and spending time with his beloved dog Poochie. His passion for these activities reflected his appreciation for nature and simple pleasures in life.
Ronnie was united in marriage to Sally (Ayers) Skiles on July 24, 1964. Ronnie's proudest accomplishments revolved around his role as a husband, father and grandfather. He took immense joy in being there for his family and ensuring their well-being. Ronnie's devotion to his loved ones knew no bounds.
He is survived by his wife Sally Skiles, daughter Andrea McCarty and husband Terry, son Andy Skiles and wife Betsy; grandchildren Justin (Raileen) King, Ronnie Skiles III, Savannah (Richard) House, Drew Skiles, Riley Skiles, Alyson Skiles, Macy McCarty, Logan McCarty; great-grandchildren Skyler, Kodiak, Athena , Peyton , Brooklyn , Bella , Triston , Jacob , and Layton.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter Brigetta Luther; son Ronnie Skiles Jr.; sisters Shirley Hayes, Norma Watkins, Sue Skiles; brothers Donald, George, Sterling, William, Harold, Jackie, Edmond Skiles and grandson, Blake McCarty Shortly after his passing, Ronnie was joined by his loving dog, Poochie.
Ronnie will be deeply missed but never forgotten for the impact he had on those around him both professionally and personally. May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved by many.
