Gary was united in marriage to Roxann Hawkins on October 12, 1989 in Mineral Point, Missouri.
Gary is survived by his wife, Roxann Rook of Mineral Point, Missouri; one son, Brian Rook of Mineral Point, Missouri; one grandson, Landon Rook of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, George Rook and wife, Sandy of Potosi, Missouri; Glenn Rook and wife, Rita of Cadet, Missouri; five sisters, Lola Skaggs of Potosi, Missouri; Edna Moses and husband, Bill of Potosi, Missouri, Margaret Dunn and husband, Ben of Potosi, Missouri, Linda Gay and husband, Gregg of Potosi, Missouri, Sandy Tedder and husband, Mitch of Belgrade, Missouri; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arlene and Bill Hawkins of Cadet, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Kathy Wilson and husband, Larry of Cadet, Missouri, Debbie Adams and husband, Tim of Farmington, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Ron Hawkins of Potosi, Missouri, Don Hawkins and wife, Vicki of Herculaneum, Missouri, Rob Hawkins and wife, Alice of Blackwell, Missouri, William “Chip” Hawkins of Potosi, Missouri, Steve Hawkins of Cadet, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by one nephew, Tim West.
Gary enjoyed taking rides and listening to oldies music, playing horseshoes, euchre and shooting matches. He loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing. Gary loved visiting with his family and friends and lived his life to the fullest. His grandson, Landon was his world. Landon kept Gary going, he is the reason Gary fought so hard and long.
Visitation was held Monday, July 20, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, July 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Benny Dunn, Mitch Tedder, John Tedder, James Conway, Donnie Hawkins, Brian Rook, Brad Hawkins and honorary pallbearer, Landon Rook.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
