Ed Anthony “Hoppy” Shelton of Cadet, Missouri was born on Monday, December 2, 1957 in DeSoto, Missouri a son of the late Beulia (Courtaway) Shelton and George Shelton. Hoppy departed this life at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, surrounded by his dear and loving family, on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the age of Fifty-five years, six months and twenty-five days.
Hoppy was united in marriage to Trish Sansoucie on September 10, 1977 in Union, Missouri.
Hoppy is survived by his wife Trish Shelton of Cadet; two daughters, Lashonda Courtois of Potosi, Trista Finley and husband Nathan of Potosi; one son, Mark Farris and wife JoAnn of Potosi; two sisters, Mary Jane “Sis” Lincoln and husband Wesley of Farmington, Norma DeClue of Potosi; nine grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and dear and special friends. In addition to his parents, Hoppy was also preceded in death by one sister, LaVada Shelton and one brother Marvin “Sug” Shelton.
Hoppy had a great love for life and enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren could always bring a smile to his face and a sparkle to his eyes. Each of the grandchildren held a very dear and special place in his heart. He admired the many gifts Mother Nature and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Hoppy took great pride in his lawn and you could find him most of the time clipping and mowing. Hoppy would relax with his favorite television show Bonanza and Gunsmoke with his dogs Bud and Jack at his side.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, July 1, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Service was held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Bob Thurman and Reverend Bobbie Brown officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, Missouri. Honoring “Hoppy” by serving as pallbearers were: Brandon Sansoucie, Mark Farris, Tyler Courtois, Muril Littrell, Randy Coleman, Bill Sansoucie, Stevie Littrell and Josh DeClue.
