Geraldine “Geri” Vivian Shepard
Geri Shepard of Cadet, Missouri was born on Monday, June 30, 1930 in Van Buren, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Violet (Strain) Skiles and James E. Skiles. Geri departed this life on Monday, May 22, 2006 at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-five years, ten months and twenty-two days.
Geri was united in marriage to Golden Meredith Shepard on September 8, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Geri is survived by her loving husband, Golden Shepard of Cadet, Missouri; two daughters, Tina Marie Schrum of Potosi, Missouri, Deana Michelle Haffer and fiancé Phillip Evans of Potosi, Missouri; two sons, Charles Keith Neighbors and friend Emmie of Perryville, Missouri, Kevin Dean Holcomb of Searcy, Arkansas; three sisters, Louise Wilcox of Winona, Missouri, Arlene Reed and husband Roland of Winona, Missouri, Rhonda Mayberry and husband Roger of Hermann, Missouri; three grandchildren, Shawntae Renae Wright of Steelville, Missouri, Daryn Jordan Haffer of Berryman, Missouri, Daysha Jolene Haffer of Potosi, Missouri; and very close life long friend, Alta Clark of Park Hills, Missouri. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Regina Dawn Neighbors, four sisters, Lucille Skiles, Beatrice King, Bernice Miner, Alene McLean, two brothers, James Bernice Skiles, Vernon Skiles, and an infant granddaughter, Kayla Marie Wright.
Geri loved her family and spending time with them, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, and flower gardening. She also loved sewing, cooking, going to yard sales, and canning. Geri was well known for her homemade dumplings, fruit cakes and canned beets. Geri liked to watch soap operas and the Golden Girls on television.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 24, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Bryce Wilson officiating, music preformed by pianist, Sandye Cartee and soloist, Sandie Miller. Serving as pallbearers were Rick Wright, Kent Bourbon, Cleo Shepard, Mitch Bourbon, Justin Martin, and Ray Rulo.
Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
