Wanda Short of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, April 25, 1945 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a daughter of the late, Earl Vester Wells and Maudie Ella (Price) Wells. Wanda departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2007 having reached the age of sixty-two years, four months and fourteen days.

Wanda was united in marriage to William A. Short, Sr. on August 5, 1995 in Potosi, Missouri.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, William A. Short, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Griggs Cantrell and husband, David of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Roger Lee Griggs and wife, Melissa of Potosi, Missouri, Christopher Wayne Owens and partner, Dale Clark of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Jewell Wigger and husband, Wyman of Cedar Hill, Missouri; one brother, Orville Wells and wife, Laveda of Ironton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Brock, Ryan, Chase, Paul III, William III, Ashley and Abigail; three sisters-in-law, Alice Wells, Betty Wells, Sue Wells, one brother-in-law, Donald Thurmond and wife, Donna Jean, two step-daughters, Susan P. Dusablon and husband, Paul of House Springs, Missouri, Amiee J. Harding and husband, J.T. of Pacific, Missouri; one step-son, William A. Short, Jr. and wife Amanda of Moscow Mills, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by two sisters, Alvada Stegall, Zelda Thurmond and five brothers, Norman Wells, Walter “Son” Wells, Thomas Wells, Early Wells and Cecil Wells.

Wanda was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Potosi, Missouri. She loved spending time with her family. Wanda enjoyed watching television especially, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and to flea markets. Wanda loved listening to music and playing the guitar, piano, banjo and accordion. She also loved flower gardening and her French poodle, Pepe. She will be very deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation was held Monday, September 10, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Elder Leonard Compton and Reverend Joseph “Bud” Lawson officiating. Musical selections were: “If Tomorrow Never Comes” Garth Brooks, “Tough” Craig Morgan, “Somebody’s Praying” Ricky Skaggs and “Go Rest High” Vince Gill. Serving as pallbearers were: Darrell Thurmond, Charlie Wigger, Kurt Compton, Rodney Thurmond, Tim Conway, Randy Owens and honorary pallbearer, Mike Wigger.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Leadwood Cemetery, Leadwood, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
