Marie Shrum
Marie Shrum of Farmington, Missouri departed this life on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington, Missouri at the age of Eighty-nine years, four months and twenty-seven days. Marie was born in Caledonia, Missouri on Wednesday, October 6, 1920, a daughter of the late Etta Mae (Palmer) Moyers and Richard A. Moyers.
Marie was united in Marriage to the late James Shrum in Potosi, Missouri on November 29, 1946. Marie and James made their home together and lived in St. Louis, Missouri. Marie spent her retirement years in Bismarck, Missouri, close to her family and friends.
Marie is survived by one sister, Ruth Mae Tiefenauer of Bismarck, Missouri, her niece and Goddaughter, Deb Gremmelsbacher and many other Nieces, Nephews, other dear and special relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth William Moyers and Norman Moyers.
Prior to her retirement, Marie worked as a PBX supervisor for General American Insurance Company for many years. She loved to go shopping for clothes and to browse. She enjoyed listening to country music. Marie was an avid collector of Hoot Owls. She always looked forward to her next trip and will be remembered for all her pictures and stories as she traveled extensively throughout the United States. She was a long time member of the “Choo-Choo” Red Hat Society in Bismarck. Marie loved to spend her time drinking coffee thru out the day.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, March 8, 2010 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.
Funeral Services were held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with The Reverend James West Officiating. Musical selections were performed by Mark Farrell. Mark sang “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden”.
Burial was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
Services were under the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
