Joseph Wayne Silvey of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, August 27, 1941 in Potosi, Missouri a son of the late, Jennie (Heifner) Silvey and Roy Curtis Silvey. Wayne departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Parkland Medical Center, Farmington, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-eight years, five months and twenty days.

Wayne was united in marriage to Sharon Miller on June 8, 1968 in Potosi, Missouri.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sharon Silvey of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Tammy Silvey of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Joy Skiles and husband, John of Mineral Point, Missouri; one son, Jeffrey Melton of Potosi, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ashley James and husband, Cody of Warrenton, Missouri, Mary Ellen Lawson and husband, Doug of Mineral Point, Missouri, Michael Skiles of Mineral Point, Missouri, Joshua Melton of Potosi, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Jordan James, Hannah James, Trinity Lawson, Mady Lawson and Doug Lawson; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Catherine Callahan, two brothers, Norman Roy Silvey and John Edward Silvey.

Wayne was a very active and longtime member of First Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri. Always helping with his community he was involved in many organizations including: Past President of City of Potosi Industrial Development Authority, Past Member of the Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Community Betterment, Rotary Club, Lions and the Park Board. During his younger years Wayne enjoyed going camping and fishing. Wayne loved his family and spending time with them as much as possible.

Wayne a longtime business owner in the area, he owned and operated a furniture store, sporting and hunting goods store, was an authorized Sears retailer and currently operating The Good Sport, a printing company and bedding, furniture and appliance retailer. His devotion to Washington County was shown through his commitment to his church and family carried on in his business life. He was instrumental and active in so many areas of the community. Through his kindness hundreds and thousands of dollars came to this community. His kindness, compassion and love will long be remembered by all.

Visitation was held Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri and Friday, February 19, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Roger Silvey officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Mike Skiles, Josh Melton, Doug Lawson, Cody James, Andy Silvey, Bill Politte and James Callahan.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
