Willis Simpson of Potosi, Missouri was born on Thursday, May 5, 1927 in Ebo, Missouri a son of the late, Mildred Elva (Tillson) Simpson and William McKinley Simpson. Willis departed this life on Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home in Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-years, nine months and twenty days.

Willis was united in marriage to Rose Mary Roy on December 18, 1948 at the Breton Creek Church in Potosi, Missouri and this union was blessed with three children.

Willis is survived by one daughter, Delphia Fay Simpson of Potosi, Missouri; one son, John William Simpson of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, Robert Lee Simpson and wife, Beverly of Potosi, Missouri, James Lambert Simpson and wife, Pat of Potosi, Missouri; three grandchildren, Cindy Stacy and husband, John of Farmington, Missouri, Tim Portell and wife, Denise of Potosi, Missouri, Dustin Portell and wife, Ann of Fenton, Missouri; ten great grandchildren, also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Mary Simpson, one daughter, Gladys Joan Simpson and one brother, Roland Edward Simpson.

Willis served his country by enlisting in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 265 and a longtime member of the Bates Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Willis enjoyed going to auctions, cattle farming, gardening and fishing. In his younger years he loved traveling with his wife, Rose Mary. Willis will be deeply missed by the many lives he has touched.

Visitation was held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. An American Legion Memorial was held at 7:30 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend J.C. Huddleston officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Tim Portell, Dustin Portell, Sid Rasnic, Bryan Buckley, Lee Peterson, Robert Simpson, and Clay Simpson.

Final Prayers and burial took place in the Bates Creek Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri where Willis received full military honors consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
