Hazel Sitzes of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, October 11, 1930 in Parma, Missouri a daughter of the late, Grace Anne (Lape) Maddox and Robert Lee Maddox. She departed this life on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at her residence having reached the age of eighty-one years, two months and four days.
Hazel was united in marriage to Doyle Eugene “Gene” Sitzes on October 11, 1952.
Hazel is survived by one daughter, April Manning and special friend, James Prichett of Potosi, Missouri; five sons, Larry Quinton and wife, Gayle of Farmington, Missouri, Doyle Sitzes, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Potosi, Missouri, Buddy Sitzes and special friend, Mary Lou Hochstatter of Potosi, Missouri, Ricky Sitzes and wife, Madonna of Terre Du Lac, Missouri, Scott “Beaver” Sitzes and wife, Shawntay of Potosi, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred “Sissie” Florine Burnett and husband, Doyle of Harrison, Arkansas, Joanna Pack and husband, Leonard of Bloomfield, Missouri; one brother, Robert Maddox and wife, Ellen of DeSoto, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Eugene “Gene” Sitzes, one sister, Maxine Maddox, five brothers, Chester Maddox, Loren Maddox, Kenneth Maddox, Leon Maddox and Gary Maddox.
Hazel enjoyed being a member of the First Baptist Church, Potosi, Missouri and helping with the church activities. She loved her family especially her grandchildren. Hazel also enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends. She will be forever remembered for the love she shared.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Jeff Richards and Brother Jamie Haguewood officiating. Musical selections were: “Amazing Grace” sang by Jim Ainley, “Blessed Assurance” sang by Eyvonne and Ronnie Emily.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Christian Cemetery, Fredericktown, Missouri with Brother Dale Blount officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Dustin Manning, Jamie Sitzes, Quintin Sitzes, Brady Manning, Trevor Sitzes, Nicholas Province, Gabe Sitzes, Blake Prichett and Lindsay Quinton.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
