Curtis James Skaggs
Curtis Skaggs of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, March 7, 1939 in Springtown, Missouri a son of the late, Iva Mae (Gamble) Skaggs and Walter James Skaggs. Curtis departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. John’s Mercy, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy years, ten months and sixteen days.
Curtis was united in marriage to Jeannie Farrow on April 18, 1964 in Potosi, Missouri and were blessed with three children.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Jeannie Skaggs of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Michelle Skaggs and Jimmy Coleman of Potosi, Missouri, Anita Kay Benson and husband, Joe “Buddy” of Potosi, Missouri; one son, James Settle Skaggs and wife, Amanda of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Peggy Pyatt and husband, Danny of Mineral Point, Missouri; two brothers, Earl “Keiter” Skaggs and wife, Marilyn of Potosi, Missouri, Roger Skaggs and wife, Debbie of Farmington, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Matthew Naaman Skaggs and wife, Shannon of Potosi, Missouri, Joseph Curtis Benson, Caitlyn Jo Benson, Tashia Kay Benson all of Potosi, Missouri, Austin James Skaggs, Kasey Jean Skaggs, Emma Rose Skaggs all of Potosi, Missouri; step-father, Glenwood Skaggs of Mineral Point, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by four brothers, Gary Glen Skaggs, Jackie Skaggs, Wayne Skaggs and Nickey Ray Skaggs.
Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, rock collecting and flint knapping. He loved spending as much time with his grandchildren as possible.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Carl Wilson officiating, assisted by Pastor Wendell Nipper. Serving as pallbearers were: Matthew Skaggs, Buddy Benson, Lloyd Vitt, Marvin Scott, Perry Farrow, Roger Skaggs and Joe Benson.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Soule’s Chapel Cemetery, Ebo, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
