Benny Paul Smith of Dexter, Missouri was born on Thursday, October 9, 1952 in Haleyville, Alabama to the late, Clara Etoye (George) Smith and Willard Smith. Benny departed this life on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his residence having reached the age of fifty-nine years, one month and four days.
Benny is survived by his wife, Delorse (Spence) Smith of Dexter, Missouri; three stepsons, Adam Huey and wife, Angie of Campbell, Missouri, Patrick Huey and friend, Connie of Dexter, Missouri, William Huey of Campbell, Missouri; two sisters, Nettie Hahn of Blackwell, Missouri, Oneta Gay Miller of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, Marlon Smith of Blackwell, Missouri, Melvin Smith of Potosi, Missouri; five step grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and his faithful companion, “Bucky”. In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by one step-grandson, Adam Paul Huey.
Benny enjoyed reading his Bible, playing the guitar and woodworking. He loved truck driving, following the wheat harvest throughout the Midwest. Benny also enjoyed working on cars, fishing, taking care of his yard and gardening. One of Benny’s most enjoyed pastimes was being able to sit on his front porch watching storms, lightning, listening to thunder and referred to it as God’s handiwork. He could always bring a smile to his family and friends faces, who will all greatly miss Benny and his caring ways.
Visitation was held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Rick Wade officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Lisa Miller, Mickey Hahn, Jr., Logan Rulo, Dustin Jenkins, William Huey, Adam Huey and Teresa Miller.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
