Juanita Smith of Potosi, Missouri was born on Tuesday, February 2, 1943 in Shirley, Missouri a daughter of the late Allie Francis (Matchell) Hollinsworth and Laymon J. Hollinsworth. Juanita departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-seven years, eleven months and fifteen days.
Juanita was united in marriage to Russell Smith on May 30, 1959 in Shirley, Missouri at the Grassy Hollow Church.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Russell Smith of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Fagan of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Bryan Smith and wife, Rhonda of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Faye Jarvis and husband, Leroy of Potosi, Missouri; three brothers, Leo Hollinsworth and wife, Shirley of Potosi, Missouri, Bobby Hollinsworth and wife, Jeanie of Potosi, Missouri, Johnny Hollinsworth and wife, Wanda of Xenia, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Katie, Heather, Kelly, Heidi, Hillary, Hannah, Brian, Audrey and Eli; thirteen great-grandchildren; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Prater, Betty Hollinsworth, three brothers, Jessie Callahan, James Callahan and Paul Hollinsworth.
Juanita was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Potosi, Missouri. She loved doing arts and crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. Juanita also enjoyed going to yard sales, buying purses and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time and visiting with her family and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Walter Lemmermann officiating. Honoring Juanita and serving, as Honorary Pallbearers were Brian J. Smith, Justin Smith, Eli Smith, Dalton Williamson, Lane Williamson and Austin King.
In Memory of Juanita and for her courageous fight for life the Family would like Memorial Donations to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
