Sheila Foxhall Smith was born on April 7, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio. Sheila departed this life on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-four years, six months and fifteen days.

Sheila was united in marriage to Arthur Eugene Smith on August 9, 1969 in Arlington, Virginia.

Sheila is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Eugene Smith of Irondale, Missouri; her mother, Ida (Nagyvathy) Foxhall of Lancaster, South Carolina; two sons, Arthur Foxhall Smith and wife Kassie of Irondale, Missouri, Timothy Strauser Smith and wife Mercedes of Irondale, Missouri; one daughter, Elisa Hare Hedgpath and husband Bill of Chester, South Carolina; three stepdaughters, Sherri Smith Lemmi and husband Mike of Memphis, Tennessee, Carol Catherine Fabert and husband Milton of San Ramon, California, Kathyrn Bryan Smith and husband Jeff of Alexandria, Virginia; one sister, Deborah Foxhall Avinger and husband John of Lancaster, South Carolina; and thirteen grandchildren, Thomas, Phillips, Maria, Andrew, Michael, Natalie, Bryan, Catherine, Alan, Wren, Mason, A.J. and Ian. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Edward Bruce Foxhall and two sisters, Georgia Ann Petro, Martha Jean Foxhall.

Sheila lived in South Carolina from 1965 to 1970 and worked as a flight attendant. She received a degree in geology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia where she also taught field and lab geology while also teaching at a local community college. Sheila was an expert in spinning and weaving she attended many meetings over the country from 1990 to 2002. She also enjoyed knitting and doing textile arts. Sheila loved British mystery movies, novels and going shopping in her spare time.

Sheila was always very active in church work, while in Virginia she served as a youth leader in the Episcopal Youth Community. While living in Missouri she has served on many church committees, Sheila’s faith in God was very very strong.

In cooperation with her husband, they started and operated a horse breeding business from 1989 to present. Sheila was on the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Horse Association. She would drive back and forth to Kentucky to attend the Association’s meeting to help preserve the integrity of the breed that she so much loved. Her interest in the Rocky Mountain Horse and the prayers of many friends and family enabled her to fight cancer for over twelve years. Sheila was also a member of the RMHA, Episcopal Church and Express to the Future.

Sheila is very proud of her daughter, Elisa and two sons, Arthur and Tim. She has frequently expressed her pleasure that she was able to have lived long enough to get to know and love her grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Peter Van Horne officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
