Paul Strother
Paul Strother of Belgrade, Missouri was born on Saturday, February 9, 1921 in Bismarck, Missouri a son of the late, Jane (Dunlap) Strother and Louis A. Strother. Paul departed this life at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, Missouri on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 having reached the age of eighty-six years, ten months and thirty days.
Paul is survived by dear and special friend, Nancy Patterson of Irondale, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie (Hales) Strother, one sister, Cleo (Strother) Wheaton, seven brothers, Louis Strother, Earnest Strother, Walter Strother, Carl Strother, Russell Strother, Frank Strother, Donald Strother and dear and special friend, Walter Harrington.
Paul served his country by enlisting into the United States Army on June 30, 1942 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. While serving during WWII Paul received 4 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Lapel Button, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, 3 Overseas Bars for serving in the Central Pacific, Eastern Mandates, Western Pacific, Bismarck-Archipelago battles and campaigns. Paul was honorably discharged on September 17, 1945. He was also a member of the Clarence E. Dooley VFW Post #6947, Bismarck, Missouri.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday, January 11, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Irondale, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, January 11, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Irondale, Missouri with Pastor Myron Laramore officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Big River Cemetery, Irondale, Missouri where Paul received full military honors from the V.F.W. Post #6996 consisting of a firing party, taps, flag folding and presentation.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 104 Oak Street, Irondale, Missouri.
