Irma Josephine Summers

Irma Summers of Wright City, Missouri was born on Tuesday, March 11, 1930 in Quaker, Missouri a daughter of the late, Eura (Graves) Blair and Trenton Blair. Irma departed this life on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Jonesburg Nursing Home, Jonesburg, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-nine years, four months and fifteen days.

Irma was united in marriage to Clarence Richard Summers on March 20, 1960.

Irma is survived by three daughters, Sheila Edgar of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Debora Jones and husband, Jimmy of Washington, Missouri, Susan Cartwright and husband, Phil of Wright City, Missouri; two sisters, Geneva Thurman and husband, Dallas of Louisiana, Missouri, Anna Quinn and husband, Elmo of St. Louis, Missouri; four brothers, Jewel Blair of New Mexico, Leon Blair and wife, Nelda of Mineral Point, Missouri, Leo Blair and wife, Pat of Hillsboro, Missouri, Ross Blair and wife, Betty of Mineral Point, Missouri; six grandchildren, Traci, Shannon, Shelly, Erin, Isa and Amanda; special grandchildren, Ashley and Amber; eight great grandchildren, Ali, Zack, Nathan, Morgan, Hannah Jo, Molly, Sydney and Austin; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Summers, two sisters, Minne Mincher, Hazel Reither, three brothers, Winfred Blair, Lenwood Blair, Glen Blair and one grandson, Patrick Butler.

Irma retired from Central Hardware where she worked for many years and was a member of UFCW Local 655. During her younger years she enjoyed crocheting, dancing and going to the casinos to play slot machines. Irma enjoyed spending time with Mother Nature gardening and growing flowers. She also enjoyed going out to dinner and going on shopping sprees. Irma loved caring for her grandchildren and taking care of all children. She was always cooking and baking for all of her family and friends. Irma will forever be cherished by the many lives she has touched.

Visitation was held Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jerry Compton officiating. Honoring Irma by serving as pallbearers were: Jimmy Jones, Bob Jones, John Struckhoff, David Peddicord, Gary Portell, Phil Cartwright and Larry Prevallet.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
