Helen Marie Thebeau of Old Mines, Missouri was born Saturday, November 10, 1917 in Old Mines, Missouri a daughter of the late Adele Justine (Boyer) Mercille and Louis Francis Mercille. Helen was Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church at 6:40 AM on the 13th Day of April 2004 at her home surrounded by her dear and loving family at her home at the age of Eighty-six Years, Five Months and Three Days.
Helen was united in Holy Marriage to Neil Zeno Thebeau on September 29, 1937 in Old Mines, Missouri. Neil preceded Helen in death on December 28, 2002.
Helen is survived by Three daughters, Rita J. Politte of Old Mines, Missouri, Mary J. Thebeau of Old Mines, Missouri and Catherine A. Dickey and husband Richard of Shirley, Missouri; Two sons, Bernard E. Thebeau and wife Mary Anne of Farmington, Missouri and Neil R. Thebeau and friend Judy of Potosi, Missouri; Eighteen Grandchildren; Thirty-four Great Grandchildren; three Great Great Grandchildren; three Sisters-in-law, Betty Mercille of Potosi, Missouri and Geraldine Mercille of Farmington, Missouri, Vida Thebeau of Corpus Christi, Texas and by many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was also preceded in death by One son, George L. Thebeau; One Grand Son, David Thebeau; One Great Great Granddaughter Angel Politte; One Son-in-Law Victor Politte; Four brothers, Stephen Mercille, Aloysius “Hoot” Mercille, James Mercille and Elmer Mercille and One sister, Leona Boyer.
Helen was a life long faithful member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church where she loved to spend time and worship and learn of her Savior.
Helen was more then a Mother, she became a friend to her family and to others that crossed her path in life. She had a great love for people and would always go to them to help in any way she could. She enjoyed caring for her family. She loved to cook for her family and especially at the St. Joachim Catholic School. Helen will always be remembered for her Famous Yeast Rolls, many have tried to copy her recipe but no one has achieved the task yet. She enjoyed gardening and then canning the fruits of her labor. Helen loved to spend time Quilting for hours.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, April 16, 2004 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Prayer services were held Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 7:30 PM led by the Rural Parish Workers Christ the King.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, April 16, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Music was provided by the St. Joachim Church Choir. In memory of Helen, memorials may be made to the St. Joachim Catholic Church School Fund.
Burial and final Prayers were at the St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri led by Father Ted Pieper at 11:45 AM on the 16th day of April, 2004.
Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
