Marple Francis Thompson
Marple Thompson of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, July 19, 1924 in Courtois, Missouri. The daughter of the late Margaret Estella (DeClue) Badgley and Clyde Granvil Badgley. Marple departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-two years, three months and five days.
Marple is survived by three sons, Darrell Thompson and wife Kathy of Potosi, Missouri, Gary Thompson and wife Brickey of Potosi, Missouri, Donald Thompson and wife Jamie of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Geraldine Frazier of Chester, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Mary Badgley of Potosi, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kim, Jason, Jacy, Kallie, Ashley and seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Luke, Alli, Brady, Lily, Lucy and Josie. Marple was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold Thompson, three brothers, Ralph Badgley, Esco Badgley, Elza Badgley and two sisters, Floy Carl and Sadie Mason.
Marple loved to go dancing and take walks. She enjoyed relaxing and watching soap operas. She was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. where she had served as President. Marple loved cooking for her family and cherished all the time spent with them. Marple enjoyed her life with her many family and friends. She reflected many times throughout her life to the following scripture, “ I would rather be a Servant of the Lord than to set in the seat of the Mighty.”
Visitation was held Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, October 27, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Carl Wilson officiating. Honoring Marple by serving as pallbearers were; Jason Thompson, Darryl Bequette, Richard Coleman, Kim Bequette, Kallie Thompson, Kenny Mull and honorary pallbearers, Jacy Coleman and Ashley Thompson.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
