Judy Ann Thurman of Irondale, Missouri was born on Friday, January 4, 1952 in Erie, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late, Esther (Adrian) Ray and Alfred J. Ray. Judy departed this life on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of fifty-nine years, two months and twenty-eight days.
Judy was united in marriage to Luther Lee “Butch” Thurman, Jr. on February 25, 1972 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Judy is survived by three sons, Luther Lee Thurman, III and fiancé, Melissa Bleckler of Irondale, Missouri, David Leroy Thurman and wife, Cliffta of Bismarck, Missouri, Allen Leon Thurman and wife, Tabby of Bismarck, Missouri; one brother, James Michael Ray of Daytona Beach, Florida; one stepsister, Mary Udy and husband, Calvin of Rigby, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Luther IV, Alice, Dylan, Sydney, Brody, Gunner, Ronnie and Bradley; adopted daughter, Rebecca Hurt of Ironton, Missouri; true friend, Cathy Skiles of Caledonia, Missouri; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Butch” Thurman, Jr. who passed away August 20, 2010.
Judy enjoyed watching football on Sundays and all the different cake shows on television. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment. Judy also enjoyed collecting Christmas villages and taking rides in and watching hot air balloons. She was a kind and loving woman who will forever be remembered for the love and laughter she shared.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, April 7, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating. Honoring Judy by serving as pallbearers were: Allen Thurman, Luther Thurman III, David Thurman, Luther Thurman IV, Alice Thurman and Dylan Thurman.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Big River Cemetery, Irondale, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
