Delores Verna Thurmond
Delores Thurmond of Blackwell, Missouri was born on Monday, March 21, 1949 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a daughter of the late, Maudie Della (Gowen) Barton and Delmar Lacey Barton. Delores departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri having reached the age of sixty-years, three months and twenty-six days.
Delores was united in marriage to Louis E. Thurmond on August 16, 1967 in Richwoods, Missouri and were blessed with five children.
Delores is survived by two daughters, Tammy Feverston and husband, Chad of Cadet, Missouri, Natasha Chiles and husband, Ryan of Blackwell, Missouri; three sons, Louis Eugene Thurmond, Jr. of DeSoto, Missouri, Rodney Thurmond and wife, Pauline of Potosi, Missouri, Derick Thurmond and wife, Jennifer of Blackwell, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Davis of Godfrey, Illinois, Janet Byington of Martin, Tennessee, Barbara Davis and husband, Don of Potosi, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Misty, Tiffani, William and Haleigh; one great grandson, Trevor; dear and special friend, Billie Ward of Potosi, Missouri and Lester Thurmond of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene DeClue and Louella Rodgers, five brothers, Alvie Barton, Donnie Barton, Ronnie Barton, Ricky Barton and Russelle Barton.
Delores attended and always looked forward to going to the Rose of Sharon Church, DeSoto, Missouri. She loved listening to music, singing and dancing. Delores enjoyed spending time with her family, who will miss her loving and caring smile. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing and continuing her education, learning anything and everything she could.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Jeff Cook, Jr., Kyle Dickey, Jessy DeClue, Dennis Byington, Kenny Bell and Brian Coleman.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
