Louis Eugene Thurmond, Sr.

Louis E. Thurmond, Sr. of Blackwell, Missouri was born on Saturday, January 11, 1947 in Richwoods, Missouri a son of the late, Blanche (Rogers) Thurmond and William Thurmond. Louis departed this life on Sunday, November 25, 2007 having reached the age of sixty years, ten months and fourteen days.

Louis was united in marriage to Delores Barton on August 16, 1967 in DeSoto, Missouri by Reverend Clarence Taylor and was blessed with five children.

Louis is survived by his loving wife, Delores Thurmond of Blackwell, Missouri; two daughters, Tammy Feverston and husband, Chad of Cadet, Missouri, Natasha Chiles and husband, Ryan of Blackwell, Missouri; three sons, Louis Eugene Thurmond, Jr. of DeSoto, Missouri, Rodney Thurmond and wife, Pauline of Sullivan, Missouri, Derick Thurmond and wife, Jennifer of Blackwell, Missouri; three sisters, Virginia Barton of Leesburg, Missouri, Arlene Thurmond of Sedalia, Missouri, Shirley Butler and husband, Don of Farmington, Missouri; four brothers, John Thurmond and wife, Shirley of Sullivan, Missouri, Lester Thurmond and fiancé, Billie Ward of Potosi, Missouri, Carl Thurmond and wife, Laverne of Potosi, Missouri, Leo Thurmond of Richwoods, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jessica Feverston, Jennifer, Misty and Tiffani Thurmond, Willie Thurmond and Haleigh Chiles; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Heads and infant, Alberta Thurmond, three brothers, Frank Thurmond, Bob Thurmond and Oscar Thurmond.

Louis was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He worked as a supervisor for the City of Hillsboro, Missouri for twenty-five years. Louis attended the Rose of Sharon Church in DeSoto, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for deer hunting with his brothers. Louis was a very charitable man and was always helping anyone in need. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting every year and working in his garden raising the best tomatoes. Louis loved to watch old cowboy movies, wrestling and the World Series on television. He was very much loved by his family and many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Carl McCalup officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Dennis Byington, Jessie DeClue, Lee Miller, Billie Watson, Arthur Rulo and David Boyer.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
