Bettie Jean Tiefenauer (nee Hanger) of Farmington, formerly of Caledonia, entered into her eternal heavenly reward on Thursday, Spetember 9, 2021, on her granddaughter April’s birthday.
Bettie was born in St. Louis on October 1, 1930. She was the second child of Jefferson and Aves (Lawson) Hanger. Bettie worked at Bussmann Fuse in St. Louis. While she was there, Bettie’s supervisor decided to have a picnic and invited her workers and some of her husband’s friends. It was at this picnic that Bettie met her future Husband, Jack.
Jack and Bettie were married in June 24th, 1950. The 24th of June became a very important date for Bettie. Twenty -three years later on June 24th, 1973 their oldest daughter, Ava, married Danny Simmitt. Sixty-one years later on June 24th, 2011, Jack went home to be with the Lord.
Bettie was a homemaker. Bettie loved living on the farm that she and Jack owned. Bettie lived on the farm for over 53 years. Bettie loved the Lord and her family and her church brothers and sisters.
She and Jack had four children: Ava, Jacqueline, Joe and Terry.
Bettie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack and her beloved son, Terry; parents, Jefferson and Aves Hanger; in-laws, Joe and Maude Tiefenauer; sister, Freda Hanger; brothers, Jeff (Bonnie) Harold and Pete Hanger; brothers - in-law Joe Lundy, Wayne Richardson, Sonny Prunty, William (Frances), Earl, Seth, Clifford (Marge), and Luther (Ruth) Tiefenauer; sisters-in-law, Dora (Corbett) Turner, Lucille (Richard) Evans, Esteline (Otis) Roussan and Lillian (Monroe) Burris.
Those left to mourn Bettie’s passing are daughters, Ava (Danny) Simmitt of Clyde Kansas, Jacqueline (William) Rowland of Farmington, Missouri and son Joe (Pam) Tiefenauer of Caledonia. Five grandchildren, Brent (Lisa) Simmitt, April (Tommy) Clanin, Matthew Manley, Crystal (Kyle) Windle and Caleb (Katie Beth) Tiefenauer; twelve great grandchildren, Logan Simmitt, Jordan Murphey, Amber Murphey, Alycia (Brandon) Sansoucie, Kailey Manley, Brandon Buffington, Johnny Weiss, Kymbriliegh Manley, K.J. Tiefenauer, Ethan Tiefenauer, Chloe Windle, and Oakley Tiefenauer; four great great grandchildren, Adilyn Sawyer, Luke and Bridger Sansoucie and one great great grandchild on the way; sisters, Loretta Lundy, Marcella Richardson and Becky Prunty; brother, James Hanger; sister-in-law, Judy Hanger; in addition Bettie leaves her precious friends Carlene and Bob Nipper, John and Nancy Lands, Don Dickerson and David Herbst. Pallbearers were Danny, Brent, and Logan Simmitt, William Rowland, Matthew Manley, and Tommy Clanin.
Due to Covid Virus there will be a private graveside service. Danny Simmitt will officiate. All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to Camp Penuel.
