David Lester Villmer of Richwoods, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Belleville Medical Center, Belleville, Illinois at the age of Seventy years, nine months and twenty-eight days. David was born Monday, December 9, 1940, the son of the late Emma Margaret (Recar) Villmer and Elmer Francis Villmer.
David is survived by his wife Doris Courtouise-Villmer of Richwoods; five daughters, Paula Casper of East Peoria, Illinois, Doris Cardwell and husband Delbert of Richwoods, Tina Knott of East Peoria, Illinois, Janet Cawley and husband Doyle of East Peoria, Illinois, Serena Hamilton and husband Lee of Roanoke, Illinois; three sons, Irvin Smith of East Peoria, Illinois, Virgil Smith and wife Rhonda of Richwoods, Chuck Courtouise and wife Crystal of Belgrade; one sister, Rose Friend and husband Claude of Luebbering, Missouri; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren and by many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Lester was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas “Tommy” Smith; one sister, Mary Catherine Rogers; three brothers, Joseph Walter Villmer, James “Jim” Villmer and Albert Villmer; one grandson, Brian Knott.
David was a devoted parishioner of the St. Stephen Catholic Church, Richwoods, Missouri. David was also known by his family and friends as Lester or Pete. He was a retiree from the company now known as Cimbar Mining. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved spending time in the out of doors hunting and walking. Lester was always ready to travel around and visit with his family and many friends. He looked forward to taking a vacation anywhere he could go to see the sites of this great country. David had a great love for his community and loved spending time volunteering at the many different events.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Prayer Services were held Friday evening at 5:30 PM, by Father Robert Liss at the Moore Memorial Chapel.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the St. Stephen Catholic Church, Richwoods, Missouri with Father Robert Liss officiating. Burial was in the St. Stephen Catholic Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
