Lloyd Arthur Vitt of Potosi was born September 19, 1942 in Washington, Missouri a son to the late Arthur R. Vitt and Irma (Shaw) Vitt. Lloyd departed this life Wednesday, August 18, 2021 having reached the age of 78 years, 10 months and 30 days.
On July 13, 1962 Lloyd married his High School Sweetheart Martha “Marty” (O’Brien) Vitt and they shared 59 years together.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Martha; daughters, Lisa Sharpe of Palmetto, Florida, Lori Clem and husband Kevin of Darby, Kansas, Lynn Truax of Hillsboro, Missouri, Leigh Sapa and husband Kevin of Cedar Hill, Missouri; grandchildren, Zach, Nick, Eli Suhr, Kiya and Sage Sharpe, Cody Schulte, Taylor Pashia, Matthew Roland, Alonna Abel, Aaliyah and Luke Sapa; great grandchildren, Ava and Dylan; sister-in-law, Barbara VanLeer of Beaufort, Missouri; brother-in-law, Keith O’Brien of Potosi and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Lane Vitt and sister, Lois Ann Vitt.
Lloyd loved animals and had many special pets throughout the years including baby raccoons, baby squirrels and baby opossums. He was an accomplished musician, flint knapper, woodworker, hunter, fisherman and much more. Lloyd retired in 1994 from the Missouri Highway Patrol after wearing the uniform for more than 30 years. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
