Helen “Chicky” Benson of Fulton, Missouri formerly of Old Mines, Missouri was born on Friday, May 23, 1958 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a daughter of the late, Helen (Aly) Wall and George E. Wall, Sr. Helen departed this life on Monday, May 7, 2012 having reached the age of fifty-three years, eleven months and sixteen days.
Helen was united in marriage to Richard Benson on September 4, 1982 in Old Mines, Missouri.
Helen is survived by one son, Daniel Jason Wall and wife, Sara of Bonne Terre, Missouri; daughter, Rachel Gladine Benson and fiancé, Bryan Stone of Fulton, Missouri; eight sisters, Joyce Christopher of Cadet, Missouri, GeorgeAnn Cash and husband, Roy of St. Louis, Missouri, Rebecca Queen and husband, Ron of Festus, Missouri, Margaret Peters and husband, Ron of Festus, Missouri, Susan Kinnison of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Sharon Sansoucie and husband, Kenny of Cadet, Missouri, Melanie “Rose” Wall of DeSoto, Missouri, Judy Wall of Washington, Missouri; one brother, George Wall, Jr. of Hillsboro, Missouri; five grandchildren, Luke, Olivia, Chris, Lauren, Tristan; mother-in-law, Gladine Benson of Potosi, Missouri; and special friend, Bernie Thebeau. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Benson on May 2, 1995, two sisters, Glenda Reando and Dorothy Portell, one brother, Timothy J. Wall.
Helen or “Chicky” as she was known by her family and friends loved spending time with her grandchildren, and cooking and baking for family dinners. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, flowers, painting ceramics and ornaments. She loved interior decorating, she most especially loved tending her yard. She loved the green grass and colorful flowers everywhere. She will be very deeply missed by her many family members and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, May 11, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper and Monsignor James Hanson officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Danny Wall, Steve Portell, Ron Queen, Jr., Bobby Thompson, Jr., David Lee Martin, Zachary Emily, Bryan Stone, Bernie Thebeau and George Wall, Jr.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
