Elvin P. “Buddy” Walton of St. Louis, Missouri was born on Tuesday, June 14, 1921 in Mineral Point, Missouri a son of the late, Daisy P. (Potter) Walton and Percy Cleveland “P.C.” Walton. Buddy departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2009 at his residence having reached the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and eleven days.

Buddy is survived by one sister-in-law, Madeline Walton of Fort Worth, Texas; many nieces, nephews and many other dear relatives and special friends. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by four brothers, Jess B. Walton, Carter V. Walton, Virgil L. Walton and twin brother, Melvin E. “Rusty” Walton.

Buddy was a fifty year member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge # 131, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32°. He was also a member of the National Cosmetology Association since 1952.

Buddy started his hair styling career in Potosi, Missouri working for Hattie Coleman and then traveled to the St. Louis area where he owned and operated several salons. During his career he had salons in other areas including Florida. Buddy’s talent and love for hair styling guided him to travel the world and to become known as a world-class hairdresser. His accomplishments are many and his memory will live forever. Buddy was fortunate to have styled hair for many first ladies both state, national and worldwide. Buddy’s hair styling career could lightly be summed up in his book “High Styles”. Buddy traveled the world serving as a judge for many Styling Competitions, Beauty Pageants both Miss and Mrs.

Buddy has been a licensed cosmetologist for over fifty-five years. He has represented the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association at twenty-three events in Europe and was a team advisor for the association in Japan. He also participated in the first U.S. hairdressing demonstration in Russia and has won numerous awards over the years. Buddy’s caring nature and sense of style will always be remembered by all.

Visitation was held Monday, June 1, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Mineral Point, Missouri with Reverend Jerry Compton officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Michael DeYoung, Coty Hastie, P.C. Walton, III and Rick Walton.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
