Betty Ruth Watson
Betty Ruth Watson of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, January 9, 1939 in Flat River, Missouri a daughter of the late Amanda Katherine (Hastings) Cox and Dyer Edward Cox. Betty departed this life surrounded by the love of family and friends on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-eight years, three months and twenty-three days.
Betty was united in marriage to Harold Watson on July 14, 1979 in Potosi, Missouri.
Betty is survived by four daughters, Donna Sue Jarvis and husband Randall of Mineral Point, Missouri, Sandra Whitaker and husband Lonnie of Tucson, Arizona, Helen Overstreet and husband Jerry of Bismarck, Missouri, Crystal Dawn Watson and fiancé, Bobby Golden of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Larry Dale Kennon and wife Kim of Farmington, Missouri; six sisters, Barbara Counts and husband Cleo of Park Hills, Missouri, Lillie Fenwick and husband Clarence of Bismarck, Missouri, Dorothy Griffin of Fenton, Missouri, Judy Hooks and husband Tony of Monticello, Arkansas, Mary Marshall and husband Bill of Greenville, Missouri, Pam Spradling and fiancé Robert of Park Hills, Missouri; four brothers, Donald Cox of Des Arc, Missouri, Jimmy Cox and wife Joan of Park Hills, Missouri, David Cox and wife Judy of Cuba, Missouri, Dyer Cox, Jr. and wife Brenda of Davis Crossing, Missouri; three stepdaughters, Caroline Thurman and husband Pat of Branson, Missouri, Brenda Levall and husband Dennis of Salem, Missouri, Yvonne DeWater and husband Jeff of Branson, Missouri; four stepsons, Henry Watson and Rhonda Rulo of Belgrade, Missouri, Joe Watson and wife Melanie of Blue Eye, Missouri, Donald Watson and JoAnn Bridges of Potosi, Missouri, David Watson and wife Angie of Waterloo, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, sixteen step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, ten step great-grandchildren, also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Betty attended the Gumbo First Church of God, Park Hills, Missouri. She loved spending time with family, her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy in life. Betty also loved to listen to all kinds of music. She will be missed very deeply by her many loved ones and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, May 4, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Cleo Counts and Reverend Ardell Gray officiating. Musical selections played were “ Go Rest High on That Mountain, Tears in Heaven and The Farside Banks of Jordan.”
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Mike Overstreet, Robert Overstreet, Rodney Jarvis, Dwayne Jarvis, Jared Lavall, David Cox, Paul Nash and Bobby Griffin.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
