Stanley "Butch" West

February 20, 1945 — October 24, 2011

Stanley “Butch” West, Jr., died peacefully on Monday Oct. 24th, 2011, after a long battle with diabetes. Stan was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 20th, 1945 to parents Theresa (Remion) West and the late Stanley West Sr.

He grew up in Potosi, Missouri and was the eldest of six children. Stan was an avid sports fan who played basketball, baseball and golf. He served honorably in the U. S. Marine Reserves and attended Memphis State University where he met his wife Carol. Stan was a long time resident of El Paso where he sold life insurance. He worked for several agents before he started SW Insurance Services.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Carol, daughter Shelley Solis and husband Ramiro Solis, daughter Katie West-O’Harrow and husband Shea O’Harrow, granddaughters Lexi and Sophia Solis and his grandson Teige O’Harrow; mother, Theresa West of Potosi, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Brenda West of Potosi, Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law Janet and Bob Sebring of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Renee and Todd Strong of Imperial, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Mary Pat West of Potosi, Missouri, Ann West of Phoenix, Arizona and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. In addition to his father, Stan was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry West and Garry West.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. A Memorial Prayer Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 7:30 PM with Reverend Joe Welschmeyer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home located at 9650 Kenworthy St. El Paso, TX 79924 Attn: Susan Culp.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
