Janice Irene Whitter
Janice Whitter of Cadet, Missouri was born on Sunday, July 22, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri a daughter of the late, Justine (Villmer) Sampson and Walter Sampson. Janice departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2010 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-four years, five months and seventeen days.
Janice was united in marriage to John Whitter on July 20, 1963 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri and were blessed with three children.
Janice is survived by her husband, John Whitter of Cadet, Missouri; two daughters, Justine “Tina” Rolens and husband, Danny of Cadet, Missouri, Sherry Marie Marler and husband, Wade of Desloge, Missouri; three sisters, Patricia Beckner of Greenville, Illinois, Joan Vaughn of St. Louis, Missouri, Joyce Harris and husband, Carl of DeSoto, Missouri; two brothers, Paul Sampson and wife, Helen of Blackwell, Missouri, Patrick “Jake” Sampson and wife, Louise of Bonne Terre, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Tabatha, Nicholas, Megan, Lindsey, Eithen and Trevor; five great-grandchildren, Jade, Kayden, Lilly, Peyton and Makenzi; two sisters-in-law, Della Mae Sampson of Potosi, Missouri, Cecelia Sampson of Edwardsville, Illinois. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by one son, John Joseph Whitter, Jr., three sisters, Rita Pratt, Nazarine Shepard, Maxine Matthews, four brothers, Virgil Sampson, Christopher Sampson, Jude Sampson and Thomas Sampson.
Janice loved spending time with her grandchildren and always looked forward to family gatherings. She enjoyed camping, going to the boat and doing scratch off tickets. Janice also enjoyed going to yard sales and mushroom hunting. She loved the holidays and spending time with all of her family who will greatly miss her.
Visitation was held Monday, January 11, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Jeff Richards officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Nathan Coleman, Mike Whitter, Wade Marler, Keith Missey, Mike Riddle and Carl Harris.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Red Bud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
