John Joseph "Jay" Whitter, Jr.
John "Jay" Whitter, Jr. of Old Mines, Missouri was born Tuesday, May 5, 1970 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Festus, Missouri. A son of Janice Irene (Sampson) Whitter and John Joseph Whitter, Sr.. Jay departed this life suddenly Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center, Farmington, Missouri at the age of Thirty-Three Years, Five Months and Twenty-Seven Days.
Jay is survived by his Parents, John and Janice Whitter of Old Mines; One Daughter, Lindsey Taylor Whitter of Crystal City, Missouri; One Son Eithen Craig Whitter of Crystal City, Missouri; Two Sisters, Tina Rolens and Husband Danny Rolens of Old Mines, Missouri and Sherry Coleman of Desloge, Missouri; Mother of his children, Karen Caruthers of Crystal City, Missouri; Nieces and Nephews, Nathan Scott Coleman, Tabatha Renee Coleman, Nicholas Lee Coleman, Megan Raquel Rolens and Trevor James Rolens; One Great Niece Jade LeeAnn Coleman; Dear Friends, Steve Riddle, Phillip DeClue, Dave Cavanaugh and Mike and Missy Coppedge; His Second Mom and Dad, Mike and Diane Riddle and many other relatives and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Walter and Justine Sampson and Maternal Grandparents, Joel and Stella Whitter.
Jay was employed as a truck driver for CEMAT, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri. Jay was a devoted father and gave his all to his children. He cherished each and every moment spent with them. Jay loved the great outdoors, taking long rides on his horse and four wheeler. Jay always looked forward to a gathering of friends and family. He would never fail to bring a smile to your face or remind you to "Get er Done".
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 4, 2003 from 2:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, November 5, 2003 from 8:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jeff Richards officiating. Musical selections played for the Service were "Learning to Live", "The Cowboy Rides Away", "One Friend", "Go Rest High on that Mountain".
Grave side Services were held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 12 Noon at the Red Bud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Steve Riddle, Phillip DeClue, Danny Rolens, Nathan Coleman, Mike Coppedge, Keith Missey, Mike Riddle and Troy Harris.
Memorials are requested to the St. Jude's Children Hospital or the Shriners Hospital.
A Trust Fund has been setup for the children at Ozark Federal Savings and Loan Assoc., Gifts may be taken to any of the Branches.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
