Opal Wicker of Tiff, Missouri was born on July 8, 1929 in Cadet, Missouri a daughter of the late, Mary Cecelia (Aubuchon) Pinson and George Fillmore Pinson. Opal departed this life on July 7, 2008 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Crystal City, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-eight years, eleven months and twenty-nine days.

Opal was united in marriage to Clifford L. Wicker on August 17, 1948 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and this union was blessed with fifteen children.

Opal is survived by six daughters, Judy Vandergriff of Lonedell, Missouri, Mary Pelton and husband, Dale of Lonedell, Missouri, Susan Orrell and husband, Art of St. Clair, Missouri, Nona Burg and husband, Terry of Blackwell, Missouri, Laura Sobba and husband, Mitch of Cadet, Missouri, Patricia Fitzgerald and husband, Danny of Tiff, Missouri; six sons, Larry Wicker and wife, Mary of Cadet, Missouri, Mark Wicker of Cadet, Missouri, Clifton Wicker and wife, Carrie of Cadet, Missouri, Steven Wicker of Tiff, Missouri, Briant Wicker and wife, Kelley of Cadet, Missouri, Allen Wicker and wife, Lori of Lonedell, Missouri; two brothers, Dorsey Pinson and wife, Wilma of Cadet, Missouri, Daily Pinson and wife, Charlotte of Tiff, Missouri; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Sandy Wicker of Cadet, Missouri, good friend, Marie Walter of Blackwell, Missouri, also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford Wicker, one daughter, Laverne Marie “T.T.” Hopkins, two sons, George T. Wicker, John E. Wicker, one son-in-law, Virgil Vandergriff, two granddaughters, Katrinia Sobba, Jennifer Wicker, five grandsons, Brian Vandergriff, Daniel Pelton, Michael Sobba, Keith Sobba and Jeffery Sobba.

Opal loved her Lord and attended the Blackwell Baptist Church. As a child and her early adult years, Opal loved to ride horses. She enjoyed cooking large meals, especially deer meat and biscuits and gravy, and large breakfasts for the hunters. Opal loved her family and the time they spent together. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping every Friday, listening to Christian music and watching Wheel of Fortune and Let’s Make a Deal. Opal loved her animals, especially her two dogs. She was a very kind hearted, generous woman who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Ben Kingston officiating.

Honoring Opal by serving as Pallbearers were: Mark Wicker, Allen Wicker, Briant Wicker, Larry Wicker, Elmer Reed, Jon Sobba and Mitch Sobba.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Blackwell Masonic Cemetery.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
