James Arthur Woodring

James “Jim” Woodring of Monroe, Tennessee was born on July 25, 1952 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a son of the late, Georgia Armeda (Mapes) Woodring and Calvin Woodring. Jim departed this life on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Cookeville, Tennessee having reached the age of sixty years and twenty-seven days.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Woodring of Monroe, Tennessee; one daughter, Jamie Freedle and husband, Jonathan of Baxter, Tennessee; one son, Jason Woodring of Monroe, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jordanna Fowler, Randall Freedle; uncle and aunt, George and Julie Mapes of Potosi, Missouri; two cousins, Elaine Hawkins and husband, Rodney of Potosi, Missouri, Beverly Gillam of High Ridge, Missouri; also surviving are many friends.

Jim served his country by enlisting into the United States Navy on December 29, 1972 in Farmington, Missouri. While serving, Jim received the National Defense Medal and was honorably discharged on April 17, 1974.

Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle and perfecting his hobby of woodturning. He was a former police officer in DeSoto and the City of St. Louis. Jim also worked with Motorola Communications for approximately thirty years. Most recently Jim worked as a Communication Systems Analyst for the Tennessee Division of Forestry, under the Department of Agriculture. Jim was also a longtime Ham Radio Operator with the handle WA0VED. He was a loving caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation was held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Bob Bullock officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were: Jason Woodring, Jon Freedle, Chris Borgerson, Jay Knudtson, Justin Gillam, Mike Mapes, Alan Rowe and Eddie Riess Jr.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri, where Jim received military honors.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
