Joan Elizabeth Young, beloved wife of Neil Young of Springfield, Missouri, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 20, 1936 in Tiff, Missouri to Chadburn and Mary Ellen (Deering) Aubuchon. Joan and Neil were married on November 25, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff, Missouri.
Joan was a member of St. Agnes Cathedral Parish where she worked in the rectory and provided household services to the priests, seminarians and houseguests for many years. Joan was noted for her cooking, canning and baking abilities.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters; Elaine Aubuchon and Doris Boyer, and two grandchildren; Chelsey Sawyer and Seth Hiner.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of fifty years and her sons and daughters, Sue Johnson and husband Joe, Chuck Young and wife Patricia, Thom Young and wife Debra, Mary Zumwalt and husband Kevin, Theresa Keppel, Karen Conley and husband John, and Kathie Sadler and husband Ed; in addition to her grandchildren, Neil and Joseph Hooper, Andy Sawyer; Luke, Andrea, Sophia and Olivia Young; Kyle, Blair and Drew Young; Lindsey and Alex Zumwalt, Dillon and Mallery Keppel; Cory Brockman, Megan and Brandon Conley, and Titan and Mya Sadler; Joan is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Frank Aubuchon and wife Jackie, Leon Aubuchon and wife Martha, Jean Coleman and husband Ron, Margaret Hodge, Jim Aubuchon and wife Sue, Eileen Finley and husband Hollis, Glenda Arnold and husband Galen, Kenny Aubuchon and wife Gail, and Dennis Aubuchon and wife Frances, and many other relatives and friends.
She was considered a Mother to all and will be deeply missed.
Visitation was Sunday, August 7, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, August 8, 2005 from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Tom Kiefer officiating.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
